When and where is the annual meeting?
The 2023 Annual Meeting will be held on August 8, 2023 at 7:00pm. The meeting will be held at Choccochati Elementary School in the Cafeteria.
What committees can I volunteer for?
We welcome your participation on the Beautification Task Force and the Architectural Committee.
What common areas does the POA own?
None. We have written permission to enhance the appearance of the entryway from Powell Road to Oakcrest Circle and we post items on a temporary sign board at the intersection of Gloucester Road and Oakcrest Circle. The Association pays no property tax and has no liability exposure in these areas.
How much are the dues and who sets the amount?
$60 per year. The Board of Directors.
What happens at the annual meeting?
Election of Officers, Standing and other Committee Reports and any other business which has been noticed to the membership.
Why are some Oakwood properties not part of the Association?
When the POA was created, existing property owners were given the option to become members. Approximately 36 properties are not included in the POA.
Is the developer still involved in the Association?
No. The Developer turned over the POA to the members in 2007.
What does the POA spend its money on?
We supplement the county's twice-annual mowing in order to enhance the appearance of the Gloucester entry. We protect our Association and Board of Directors with insurance. We pay modest costs of filing documents, obtaining legal advice and ongoing minimal administrative costs. There are no employees of the POA. Historically, we have engaged an attorney to protect our zoning when changes were under consideration by the County. We also engage attorneys in the event the Board of Directors is challenged. The Treasurer's Report is available for inspection.
